I have had the pleasure of performing in the French Gothic Ballroom of Belcourt Castle, a beautiful mansion in Newport, Rhode Island on numerous occasions. At Belcourt, Harle and Donald Tinney open their home to the public, six days a week, so that lovers of history, architecture and antiques can explore the museum quality furnishings, decor and objects of art gathered here. Over a hundred years ago, the lady of the house, Alma Belmont, held musical gatherings in the upstairs ballroom on a regular basis. The Tinneys re-create these gatherings in this candlelit space surrounded by 12th century stained glass windows and high ceilings and balconies. This song was inspired by my piano soirees at Belcourt.
